Project Application

To Apply

Please create a PDF document with the information outlined below and email your PDF to info@drawdao.org.

Visuals are welcome and appreciated. Include as much of the below information as is available to you at this time. We understand that earlier stage projects may not have everything – that’s okay, and we still encourage your application.

Once the application has been received, we will review and reach out for further discussion at the email address provided if we see your project as a good fit. For general questions and inquiries, please reach out to info@drawdao.io.

As DrawDAO is focused on building a community around CDRS projects, we require all of our projects to commit to the points below in order to be considered for funding.

  • Willingness to share the core science behind your project with the DrawDAO community
  • Full disclosure on where grant money is being used
  • Short monthly progress reports for the DrawDAO community
  • Provide a quarterly financial/operating update on your project

Application Criteria

  • Project Name
  • Project Location(s) (if multiple, separate by comma)
  • Team member names and roles (including advisors)
  • Email address for point of contact
  • Are you a (choose one):
    • Research project that either may or may not physically deploy a working CDRS solution in the future
    • CDRS project looking to scale your operations, even if still in the ideation phase
  • Project / research institution affiliation (if any)
  • Method(s) of Carbon Dioxide Removal and/or storage (Can choose multiple, Choose from):
    • Mineralization
    • Blue Carbon
    • Forests, Soils, Wetlands
    • Direct Air Capture (DAC)
    • Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS)
    • Carbon Storage Only
    • Other (please specify)
  • Brief description of project (less than 500 words)
  • Detailed description of methodology
  • For projects who are looking to scale their operations, please describe the CDRS Project in detail using the below criteria. Feel encouraged to use visuals where applicable.
    • Process description: A step-by-step, scientifically verifiable methodology used for the CO2 sequestration/storage
    • Potential CO2 sequestered at scale
    • Permanence of the sequestered carbon in years
    • Justification for the additionality of the project (Why is this important now? Would it have happened without your intervention?)
    • Verifiability (how will you verify the sequestered carbon?)
    • How is your project net-negative? i.e. How does your project result in a net decrease in atmospheric CO2, as opposed to simply avoiding the addition of further emissions? For this step, please take into account the estimated emissions of operating the project itself. It helps to diagram the flow of the process and include the gross emissions and gross removal at each stage.
    • Rate of sequestration. At what point in time does the sequestration occur? (i.e. 10 years after planting the tree, 1 year after mineral dispersion, etc. Feel free to be more general in your answer, or give caveats as needed)
    • Potential leakage points
    • Co-benefits & potential negative externalities (feel free to use the UN SDGs as guidance, if applicable)
    • Estimated cost per tonne of CO2, with justification
    • Mathematically verifiable and relevant calculations/methodologies for estimation for any of the above criteria.
    • A timeline/roadmap for the various project stages, including where you are currently
    • Current blockers
    • Any outstanding research or experimentation to be done
    • Any current or in-progress LCA’s, credit verifications, patents, peer-reviewed papers, or supporting documents that verify the methodology
    • Whether or not you would be interested in/able to provide future carbon credits
    • Target amount of funding
    • Any current or in-progress LCA’s, credit verifications, patents, peer-reviewed papers, or supporting documents that verify the methodology
    • Breakdown of planned use of funds, if received
    • Safety concerns
    • Regulatory/compliance concerns (what permits are needed, who needs to approve the project, etc.)
  • For Research projects who may or may not plan to go into the physical deployment stage, please describe in detail the research project to be carried out including the below criteria. Feel encouraged to use visuals where applicable.
    • Background/context, including justification for the research
    • The question(s) being investigated
    • A working hypothesis
    • A timeline/roadmap for the various project phases, including where you are currently
    • Current blockers
    • Potential concerns
    • Target amount of funding
    • Breakdown of planned use of funds, if received
